Ear Pointing!

Posted by Disha Singh on December 30, 2007

Ear Pointing

Ear pointing is also known as elf ear. It is a cool way of shaping your helix into an elf’s pointing ears.

There is no health secret behind this shaping and is mere a chic act of body modification. However, it is a procedure of removing small wedge of tissue from the tip of the ear, further suturing together the two edges which requires importantly the postoperative care.

According to ModernPlasztika.co.hu :

The procedure itself means a very careful dissection of the structures at the upper pole of the earlobe. The required reshaping is achieved by modellation of a specially designed chondro-cutaneous flap (a flap containing the own cartilage and skin of the patient). The new shape is fixed by means of absorbable sutures, skin closure is made with unabsorbable uninterrupted sutures.

ModernPlasztika is Dr. Lajos Nagy’s clinic that deals in various types of surgeries and body modifications too.

Not Tattooing but Laser Fingernail Etching

Today, my friend Scott sent something amazing… You might have heard and seen of fingernail tattoos but now there is a new way to adorn you fingernails i.e. with Laser Engraving.

Yes, Martin and Bre showed their latest “new year project” of engraving fingernails on Make thus giving a new idea to the people.

They have shown process of laser etching on a video which seems to be pretty painful process but really is not. They have made use of 25W engraving laser to do the fingernail etching with the help of a computer controlled plotter-type device with their hand restrained inside it during the procedure. They chose calender as their design and look forward to cut each growing month as it passes.

Scribble or Scientific Tattoo?

Scribble or Scientific Tattoo

Sometimes some tattoos leave a mark in your mind and I guess this will be one among them. However, there are three different tattoo designs among which one is something like wavelength and others put my doors open yet to recognize.

Rytch owner and a nine year experienced tattoo artist of Sith Tattoo, Norfolk, has inked this tattoo on the neck of this gal.

If you know what is on her neck, it’ll be of great help. This is a cry for knowledge which you can share by leaving a comment!

Cool Septum Piercing

Posted by Disha Singh on December 5, 2007

Septum Piercing

Now that is called true body modification freakiness. Dr Pangloss’s has got his labret, septum and earlobe pierced

The pen serving as the septum piercing jewelry caught my attention.

However, for some of yours curiosity I’ll tell you that septum piercing is performed in similar way like any other piercing with the needle. May for big holes dermal punches is used. Anyhow if you are not a chicken hearted person then you can also modify your body like this and be apart from the mob.

Update:
Dr Pangloss’s pierced at a 10g and has stretched it to 1/2″ since then.

Visible Invisible Connect-The-Dots Tattoos

Visible Invisible Connect-The-Dots Tattoos
Photo: Neatorama

Maximum tattoo regrets are a result of broken relationship in which a lover inks his/her beloved’s name or portrait on their skin, perhaps to avoid any type of tattoo remorse here is an intelligent way of tattooing – “connect-the-dots” tattoo.

Let others guess your new tattoo design and you make it purely personal. Even if your lover walks away from your life, you don’t need to erase the tattoo because no one knows the hidden tattoo under the dots.

I understand that it is difficult to wear the same tattoo on your skin which reminds you of some unhappy relation but I’m sure there might be some pleasurable moments also in that bad relation, so remember that and get going.

Connect-the-dots tattoo is an awesome idea and really unusual. The visible invisible tattoo can be inked onto the skin like a connect-the-dots puzzle hiding the main design of the tattoo.

Colleen Venable is obsessed with giraffes, thus inked this connect-the-dots tattoo of the giraffe toy on her leg and gave me an intelligent idea to ink any tattoo onto my skin without any remorse.

As part of her art project The Stalking and Murdering of a Childhood Giraffe Project, Colleen decided to get an “extremely visible invisible tattoo”: a connect-the-dot tattoo of the giraffe toy. (She traced the giraffe with a pen for us all to see)

The tattoo was inked by Dave C. Wallin of Tattoo Culture, Brooklyn, NY, who has a professional experience of sixteen years in Texas, Hawaii, and NYC and specialize in custom designs and drawings for each client.

Tattooist Inks Blunder on a Cats fan

Posted by Disha Singh on November 13, 2007

Recently, a Phuket tattooist inked an extraordinary tattoo on the arms of a Geelong supporter. Poor Neville had never thought that his idea of celebrating the team’s premiership victory with a tattoo would leave everyone mocking at him.

He spent around $150 to get his team inked as “Gay Premiers 2007” 😆 – misspelled “Day”.

The tattooist opened doors of his stupidity when he inked exactly same words from a piece of paper on which Neville had clearly instructed what to be tattooed on right and left arm under the heading: “Right Arm” and “Left Arm”. The tattooist became the king of all copy-cats when he copied the “Right Arm” and “Left Arm” also, which were written on the paper to make the delineation clearer.

Last year something similar happened for which the tattooist was sued by the customer who wanted a Boca Juniors logo on his back but got a lewd penis tattoo by the tattooist because the artist was a supporter of River Plate– Boca Juniors rival. Poor guy could not see what his artist was inking on his back, as he was not provided with a mirror. 😆

Therefore, it’s a humble request to keep a vigilant eye on your artist before he/she gives you a remorseful body art.

Body Craving to replace Tattoos?

Scarification piercingsntattoos

These days, more and more individuals are deciding to do something different by leaving a permanent mark – on their own skin. Scarification is one of the best examples of permanent art but different from tattoos.

Scarification is of numerous types and I’m here to talk about “Body Carving” or “Skin Peeling” or “Skinning” – all different names of the art of Skin Removal. As depicted from the name it a process of skin removal giving yourself an euphoria of pain.

A step-by-step procedure is followed to remove the skin:

1. Area of the skin where the skinning is to be performed is properly cleaned.
2. The design is stenciled on the skin.
3. The design is outlined like a single cutting scarification until reaching the right depth and width.
4. Then the artist begins removing skin slices with the help of a Kocher forceps or dissection clamp. The tissue to be removed is pulled back while “slicing” on the bottom to free the skin from beneath.

Body Carving. piercingsntattoos

Here, in the picture you’ll see the procedure of Body Carving on this lady’s back, while the artist makes a bamboo design to contribute as her backpiece. There is a high risk in skinning and is recommended get it done by only an experienced practioner. Large amount of skin removal is not advisable. As the upper layer of the skin is being removed, therefore, it is very important to follow the aftercare guidelines and hygiene of that area.

If you want to be on the cutting edge — and want to set yourself apart — you can do scarification with more pain than tattoos.

Philips Electronic Tattoo: A conecpt to be introduced after 15 years!

Posted by Disha Singh on October 16, 2007

Have you ever imagined how the body art will change in next coming decades? If not then take a look at this sensual video and see something which is beyond imagination! My mouth was wide open when I saw this up-to-the-minute Philips electronic body art project, Skin: Tattoo. Philips Design is again pushing the boundaries and confusing us with its latest contribution to the body art industry.

The SKIN; Tattoo project investigates the use of ‘electronic’ ink that would allow people to have dynamic tattoos with an infinite number of display options. In much the same way as make-up is put on and taken off to suit the occasion, a tattoo could alter whenever desired. The tattoos could even change in response to gestures or emotions, which opens up novel ways of communicating and interacting with others.

Still there are many questions hovering my mind like: how will this ‘electronic’ ink work, will it be safe on the skin, how durable is it, etc. etc.

Mold Sun tan into painless Tattoos!

Posted by Disha Singh on October 14, 2007

Sun Tattoo

Sun tan or Sun Tattoo which word increases your curiosity? I know, it is Sun Tattoo. It will be so good to tattoo your skin without pain but the sweet pricks and humming of the tattoo gun will surely be missed.

People deliberately sleep under sun to tan their skin, how about taking that tan in a shape of a tattoo design? Looking back into few years, Jose Marin Pares, from Barcelona, noticed a sun brown trace on the wrist that was left behind by his wrist-watch. He thought this concept can be used to make tattoos with the help of stickers.

He materialized his idea and cut various tattoo designs in shape of stencils to sell at his official website: Barnadreams.com

To get these tattoos onto your skin simply, remove the internal holes of the tattoo sticker. Carefully remove the sticker from the stencil and stick the stencil on the skin. Bake yourself in sun or use UV rays for two hours per day for 4 to 5 days. Remove the stencil and there you with a brown visible invisible tattoo.

Wang UV tattoo stencil
(Yu-Chiao Wang’s Design)

Recently, a Chinese designer, Yu-Chiao Wang, has designed a soft stencil which will do the same work as Mr. Pares’ stencils with the difference of size – Wang’s stencil is bigger. However, her concept sun-tattoo stencil is yet to hit the market but is eagerly awaited by tattoo freaks.

Darker Side

Every coin has two sides, similarly, every tattoo has duo-effects–good and bad. Perhaps, these tattoos are painless but they are temporary and last for only 3-4 months. Moreover, due to regular exposure to UV rays there is a risk of skin cancer. Actually, ultraviolet radiation in sunlight creates free radicals that damage DNA in skin cells and cause abnormal growth, which later leads to skin cancer. Insufficient internal antioxidants can prevent that damage. If you don’t have them then Sun Tattoo is not your cup of tea!
